Residents across the Finger Lakes and Central New York should expect a wintry and unsettled weekend, with multiple rounds of snow showers and minor accumulations, according to the National Weather Service.
Lake-effect snow will follow Friday evening into Saturday, but additional accumulations are expected to be minor, generally less than 1″. Temperatures Friday night won’t be dropping too far, with lows in the lower to middle 20s expected. Wind chills will be in the teens and low 20s for Friday night plans.
High pressure brings a brief, bitterly cold break from the snow on Thursday, followed by returning snow on Friday.

Some snow returns Saturday
Our next chance of snow will fall on Saturday. About half of the state of Connecticut will get snow, while the other half gets nothing. Northwest CT stands the best chance for up to a couple of inches of snow.
Most of the widespread snow has finished for this morning. While we could see additional light snow this afternoon, totals for the day look to stay under an inch. The rest of the day will be partly sunny with a high in the mid to upper 20s.
